Once a beautiful romantic village of Bhum Badha Chenmi Rinzi and Ritoe Namgay Phuentsho; Ruebisa had unceasing history of water scarcity and the problem continues to this day. History reminds us of ancestors who built water reservoir and they named it Sama Thruegi Zingkha. Elderly folks narrate that as true-lovers, Bhum Rinzi and Namgay Phuentsho had played their Tiger and Cow chess game (Ta dang Nor) sitting right on the edge of the reservoir. They said, there used to be a chess board carved on a big stone slap near the reservoir. Still the remains of the reservoir can be visually mapped out though the stone chess board completely disappeared.
As the people's representive, inspiring story from Bhum Badha Chem to unending plights of farmers not being able to carry out paddy cultivation within the timeframe of cultivating season, pains my heart real deep - in a way urging me to do more for these folks.
Prospective irrigation sources are some 25 KMs away from the village and wondering aghast when the sources of the water are not impressive. So far, two sources have been explored by the Dzongkhag and they are: ngabi chhu and pangza. If Ruebs could be fetched with these two waters, their joy will be no less than the reunion esctasy of Bhum Badha Chem and her diehard lover, Namgay Phuentsho.
Keeping the rest aside, for the people of Ruebisa, I’m putting my heart and soul into the water supply. I hope water flagship of our Government can finally free them off the ordeal of water issues.
